My computer crashed today

What Kind of Restore disk doesn't have a System Recovery Console option ?

Gateway System Disk. it is not really XP . I was getting an error that said

NTLDR is compressed. Luckily they had an XP disk at work.

If Apple is reading , I could really use a donated MacBook
